LANGA INNEVATA.
Dopo mesi di siccità, per quel lunedì di febbraio le previsioni meteo davano finalmente neve fino quasi in pianura, ma solo nel Piemonte sud-occidentale nella zona dei vigneti delle Langhe. Era venuto il momento di fare qualche scatto, finalmente sotto la neve, in un’area a me molto cara, per la ricchezza di cultura e di storia, per la bellezza dei paesaggi e per le tradizioni eno-gastronomiche. Fino ai piedi delle colline sono stato accompagnato da una fine pioggerella, ma appena la strada ha iniziato a salire verso Grinzane Cavour la pioggia si è ben presto trasformata in neve e, arrivato ai 500 m di Diano d’Alba, la neve ha iniziato a scendere copiosa. In breve tempo il paesaggio dei vitigni si è ricoperto di un magnifico mantello bianco e si è incominciato a intravedere la geometria dei filari scuri sul fondo bianco delle dorsali delle colline e delle vallette . In un lungo giro, tra Diano d’Alba, Serralunga d’Alba, Castiglione Falletto, Monforte d’Alba, Barolo, La Morra, impiegando soprattutto l’obiettivo 100-400 mm, ho realizzato una serie di scatti minimalisti, quasi astratti, sfruttando la geometria dei vigneti e qualche ripresa dei borghi sotto la fine nevicata.
In questo portfolio ho incluso gli scatti più significativi che spero rendano l’idea dell’atmosfera magica di quella giornata.
SNOW-COVERED LANGA.
After months of drought, the weather forecast for that Monday in February was finally calling for snow almost down to the plains, but only in south-western Piedmont in the Langhe vineyard area. The time had come to take a few shots, finally under the snow, in an area that is very dear to me, for its wealth of culture and history, for the beauty of its landscapes and for its food and wine traditions. Up to the foot of the hills I was accompanied by a fine drizzle, but as soon as the road began to climb towards Grinzane Cavour, the rain soon turned to snow and, having arrived at 500 m in Diano d’Alba, the snow began to fall copiously. Before long, the landscape of the vineyards was covered in a magnificent white mantle and we began to glimpse the geometry of the dark rows against the white background of the hillsides and valleys. In a long tour, between Diano d’Alba, Serralunga d’Alba, Castiglione Falletto, Monforte d’Alba, Barolo, La Morra, using mainly the 100-400 mm lens, I took a series of minimalist, almost abstract shots, exploiting the geometry of the vineyards and a few shots of the villages under the fine snowfall.
In this portfolio I have included the most significant shots that I hope render the idea of the magical atmosphere of that day.
